Hi guys,
For everyone who wants to learn windsurfing without shelling big $$$ for classes and equipment, you can go to the berkeley marinas California Sailing Club. This is a non-profit sailing cooperative that provides an affordable means of learning about sailing and windsurfing at ALL levels.
You pay $60 for three months (comes down to $20/month) and you get free equipment and free lessons!
This is how i started and I would recommend this to anyone else.

Re: cheap way to learn Windsurfing in SF!
Sun, April 17, 2005 - 1:26 PMI can really vouch for Daniel's tip about the cal sailing club in berkeley. I was on the executive committee there for years. That is where I learned to sail and windsurf. The place is a great deal and is a great place to meet other windsurfers and sailors. Check out their website at www.cal-sailing.org They have open house days when they give free sailing boat rides to the public on certain sundays. They have great windsurfing gear too.

Re: cheap way to learn Windsurfing in SF!
Fri, June 9, 2006 - 1:45 PMIf you are a girl a super cheap way to learn how to windsurf is to go down to crissy field and there is a guy down there named 'Larry' who teaches girls for free. He drives an old beater Saab and has tons of boards, sails, etc. Can't vouch for how good of a teacher he is, but I do know a few women who have taken a few lessons and they are doing great now.
